Garden renovation: It begins

I need to start this post by apologising to my parents. When I was growing up I thought that working full-time, and running a house couldn’t be that hard. After all, how hard can it be to sort out a bit of washing up, cook some dinner and occasionally do some laundry? Since living on my own however, I have realised that however rewarding it is, there is a lot of work to be done that I never even considered.

My biggest headache so far though, has been the garden. The front garden isn’t in the best shape, but it’s the back garden that is in a really bad way.

Over the next few months I am hoping to be able to transform what is a mess of brambles and dead grass; into a place that Helena and I can sit out in over the summer to enjoy a nice drink.

A garden covered in a mess of brambles and dead grass.
It’s hard to know where to begin with a mess like this.

I am under no illusions that this is going to be a mammoth undertaking, but it is something that I am actually very excited about. I have no real ideas or designs on what I want the garden to look like on completion, so I’ll be making most of it up as I go.

I will be posting regular updates over the next few months, cataloguing the progress made.
