Fatigue can make your life so difficult, below are some common things that cause fatigue.
Lack of sleep
Not getting enough sleep can cause fatigue, this can have a hugely negative impact on your life.
Aim for between seven and eight hours of sleep per night. Try going to bed at the same time every night, and getting up at the same time every morning. Keeping on a schedule can really help with getting good quality sleep. Ensure that your sleeping environment is comfortable and suitably dark. Try to minimise distractions such as phones and televisions too close to bed time.
Lack of fuel
Not eating enough, or eating too much of the wrong foods can have serious impacts on your health. Eating certain foods can cause a spike in your blood sugar levels, once the sugar levels drop back down you will feel fatigued.
Remember to eat a balanced diet, complete with fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Try and limit the amount of fatty or sugary foods that you are eating.
Anemia
Anemia, another name for iron deficiency, is a common cause of fatigue; especially in women. Iron is one of the main components of the oxygen carrying red blood cells. A lack of iron can mean that not enough oxygen is carried to your muscles, meaning that they will not work their best.
Eating iron-rich foods, such as nuts, beans and whole-grains is a great way of minimising the risk of anemia.
Depression
Depression can cause psychological symptoms such as anxiety and sadness. It can also, however, cause physical symptoms such as fatigue, insomnia and aches and pains.
If you or anyone you know is suffering from depression please seek medical help. The help is there and there is no need to suffer in silence.
Too much caffeine
Although caffeine is known to increase alertness and energy when taken in moderation; it can cause increased heart rate, insomnia, anxiety and increased blood pressure. In addition, similar too sugar, when the effects of caffeine wear off users can suffer a “crash”.
This means that you can go from having heaps of energy to feeling fatigued in a matter of minutes.
